4 CYLINDERS TO 4 STATES IN '08

In the tradition of past regionals, the 2008 Midwest Regional will be oriented around driving your Model A. The Heart of America Model A Ford Club invites you to come to Kansas City and enjoy the scenery of September, the area’s history, the shopping, the great food and, most of all, the driving.

MONDAY – SEPTEMBER 15, 2008

Atchison, Kansas is the destination for this day tour. A scenic 45-mile drive will take you along the Missouri River bottoms, crossing the Missouri River into Kansas. The tour will pass the main gates of Fort Leavenworth and the infamous Federal penitentiary at Leavenworth. Arriving in Atchison, you will take an hour-long trolley tour of this historic city. The Amelia Earhart Museum, Evah C. Gray Historic Home Museum and St. Benedict’s Abbey Church will also be tour stops. A Deli Deluxe sandwich lunch at the Atchison Conference Center is included. You and your “A” do not want to miss this fantastic Atchison, Kansas 2008 Regional Model A day tour.

Plan to attend the Welcome Party where you will enjoy an old fashion ice cream social with cake and sundae bar while you catch up with old friends and make some new friends.

TUESDAY – SEPTEMBER 16, 2008

This is our Grand Tour and the opportunity to boast that you drove your Model A through four states in one day. We will tour to the northwest corner of Missouri and loop through the southwest corner of Iowa and into southeast corner of Nebraska. Stop and visit Nebraska City. At the Lewis and Clark Visitors Center you will learn about the Missouri River portion of this famous expedition. A buffet lunch will be served at the center. While in Nebraska City, the home of Arbor Day festivities, stop and see Lied Lodge’s grand lobby and stop at the Arbor Day Farm for a glass of spiced apple cider. The tour back to the hotel travels along the west bank of the Missouri River following a scenic byway into Kansas where you will cross the Missouri River and return to the hotel. A window decal for your Model A will be presented to those who complete the trip proclaiming that you drove your “A” through four states in one day.

WEDNESDAY – SEPTEMBER 17, 2008

Two seminars are being offered for the men. 1) Electronic Distributors, and 2) Engine Seminar.

The Ladies’ Luncheon theme is “A History of Women’s Fashions.” Carolyn Miller, guest speaker, will show the progression of fashions and what influenced changes in fashion trends. Carolyn is a minister’s wife, mother of three, and known as “Mimi” to her grandchildren. Her journey with vintage clothing began in the early 1980’s. At an estate sale she was drawn to a small 1940’s purse and just had to have it. To her, it represented a time when women were well dressed and well accessorized, even for every day living. So began her collection and her “love” of past fashions. The display of vintage apparel will be a sampling from the late 1800’s to the 1960’s. We encourage all attendees to dress in their era fashions as we enjoy a nostalgic look at past styles.

We are offering a choice of sandwich for the ladies’ luncheon. Please indicate your choice on the registration form.

> Traditional Chicken Wrap – flour tortilla with grilled chicken, pepper jack cheese, lettuce, and tomato

> Croissant Club – ham, turkey, bacon, with lettuce and tomato

The evening’s activity will feature a Hubley Derby race. So get your cars ready and let’s go racing. The pits will open at 6:30 p.m. There are separate brackets for adults and youths. Be sure to mark your registration form accordingly.

THURSDAY, - SEPTEMBER 18, 2008
