Board Meeting
May 5, 2005
CALL TO ORDER
- Approval
of the April Minutes: Lance Burton made a motion to approve the April
minutes as written and George Deel seconded the motion. Motion was carried
and minutes stood approved.
STANDING REPORTS
- Publications
Director: Newsletter has been
mailed, Roster were handed out at the April meeting.
- Membership
Director: Lance reported there were 120 members paid as of 5/5/05.
This is an increase of two from April Meeting where we had 118 paid
members.
- Activities
Director: Discussions were held
on the Sedalia Show-me Model A club wanting us to come to their show on
May 14. May 21 is the Swap meet. May 28 is the Parkville event and 6/2 is
a Scott Joplin tour.. The next three months is a very busy time for the
club. A discussion also was held regarding a resource directory of those
who have special know-how on Model A and are willing to share that
knowledge. This will be discussed at the next monthly meeting. There will
be a sign up sheet for those who want others to know what they can do and
it will be a who does what directory. Lynn Lackey will have a sign up
sheet at our next meeting on May 18, 2005
- Treasurer:
Chuck handed out the treasurer’s report for current expenses and revenue.
We made more money in April than we spent. With the swap meeting coming
nearer we will have some increases in expenses for that event so we must
enjoy the savings in April as long as we can.

OLD BUSINESS
1.
Swap Meet Update: Larry Weigum has sent the
advertising to the Kansas City Star and other rural papers for the Swap Meet.
We have on had 8 confirmations on booth rental thus far and this concerns
Larry. Still a few more volunteers are needed. Larry will work on signs and
report at the next board meeting. Meet will be held May 20, 21, and 22 at the
Wyandotte County Fairgrounds.
- Parkville
Update: There
will be a tire kicking get acquainted event the night before the Parkville
event. George Deel will host the out of Towner’s for the club at the
Marriott along with other volunteers. A motion was made by Larry Sparks
for the club to finance a hospitality suite for the out of Towner’s to
host them coming so far to the event and make them feel welcome. We have
model A’ers coming from Colorado and Oklahoma.
- 2008
MAFCA Regional Meet: Larry
Weigum is trying to get FORD to do something for this event. Discussion
held and Bob Hess is handling the meet and is involved in the preliminary
work. Bob will be invited to attend the next board meeting to update the
board on progress.
4. Other
items of old business agenda not listed: Displays at Crown Center showing things
people collect. George Deel has a bud vase display from May 4, 2005 through
July 4, 2005
New Business
- Invitation
for the 50th celebration at Martin Luther Luthern Church:
Chris made an invitation for the 50th
celebration at Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Lee’s Summit and would like as
many members of the model A club to come to the event. It will be held on July
16. The church will have a fair with food and fun for all. On July 17, 2005
Chris has invited the club to come to the Worship services and show our support
of our great leader.
