HOA NEWS
The board met earlier this month. A nomination committee is in place and will have
the names of people willing to serve on the board for our November elections.
The Bonnie & Clyde tour is a very exciting event. Those of you who attended our Au-
gust meeting heard a report from Jim Spawn regarding this amazing tour that has taken
on a life of its own. I’ve encouraged Jim to consider writing a book about his research
and the response he has received from relatives of Bonnie and Clyde, and from various
officials from the law enforcement community that were linked to the Bonnie and
Clyde legacy. Several authors have written books about Bonnie and Clyde so there is
nothing unique about this topic. However, Jim’s historical research and his journey of
discovery is a story that needs to be told.
The 2008 MAFCA regional event is fast approaching. The planning team met a few
weeks ago and Bob Hess reports that everything is on track. I’m directly involved in
developing a Four-State-Tour for the regional. The tour begins on interstate 29 and
eventually takes us into the states of Missouri, Kansas, Iowa and Nebraska. The Plain
Ol’ A’s originally developed this tour. However, their tour was a two-day event with
numerous sightseeing opportunities. The goal of our version of this tour is not sight-
seeing, although there will be several sightseeing stops. Our goal is to drive in four
states in one day. Several weeks ago, Bob and I drove the tour route and made some
modifications to the Plain Ol’ A’s version. This should be a fun tour and I hope you
will participate.
That is about all the news for now.
Sincerely,
Chris Launer, President
